The relationship between the deflection of corrugated plastic tubing and its flow capacity was studied. An equation was developed relating deflection and other tubing parameters to the ratio of deflected flow capacity to undeflected flow capacity. Data were collected in the laboratory using nominal 100-mm-diameter tubing with idealized deflections. Both continuous uniform deflections and intermittent deflections were studied. The data were used to verify the equation and to find values for its minor loss coefficients. The effect of various parameters on the relationship between tubing deflection and flow capacity are summarized and presented graphically.
