CHARACTERISTICS OF THE LAMINAR BOUNDARY LAYER IN THE PRESENCE OF ELEVATED FREE-STREAM TURBULENCE.

摘要：
The behavior of the laminar boundary layer was observed at free-stream turbulence of 0. 3 to 25. 2%. The increases in the boundary layer thickness, in the tangential stress at the wall, and in the momentum thickness with increase in turbulence are estimated. It is shown that the depth to which the fluctuations penetrate into the boundary layer does not depend on the turbulence but only on the Reynolds number.
