SOLID-STATE BALLASTS PROVE TO BE ENERGY SAVERS.

The Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory of the University of California (LBL), with funding provided by the United States Department of Energy (DOE), initiated a development and demonstration program to assist in the commercialization of solid-state ballasts for fluorescent lighting. One thousand ballasts were retrofitted on three floors of the Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) General Office Building in San Francisco, California. The results show that retrofitted electronic ballasts in fluorescent lamps are more energy-efficient than standard core-coil ballasts.
