Development of the Fast-Neutron Reactors Fuel Cycle.

Description is given of the results of the research carried out by COGEMA between 1980 and 1986 in connection with the transportation, manufacture and reprocessing of fuels from a limited number of demonstration and prototype fast reactors which precede the full development of the process. In the light of the development scenarios envisaged for the system, COGEMA undertook in succession two pilot studies which are described here: - MAR 2000, involving a minimum of 6 reactors, - MAR 600, involving a minimum of 3 reactors. Particulars are also given of the method of transporting the associated fuels to the plant.
