INTRINSIC PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED IN THE PRODUCTION OF HIGHY SOPHISTICATED CASTINGS FROM ALUMINUM AND MAGNESIUM ALLOYS WERE SOLVED BY THE ADOPTION OF A NEW FURAN NOBAKE AND SULFUR DIOXIDE COLDBOX SAND SYSTEM. THE USE OF THE FURAN SAND SYSTEM MADE IT POSSIBLE TO KEEP PACE WITH THE EVER-INCREASING COMPLEXITY OF CASTINGS EXTENSIVELY USED IN AEROSPACE INDUSTRIES. THIS IS DUE TO THE FACT THAT FURAN CORES EXHIBIT HIGH STRENGTH CHARACTERISTICS. THEY ARE ALSO VERY EXACT DIMENSIONALLY AND HAVE VERY GOOD HOT PROPERTIES.
