摘要
The present Satellite Data System (SDS) can trace its origins back to the beginnings of the US military space program. More recent roots can be traced back to studies conducted in 1968 by General Electric and TRW for a Satellite Control Satellite system. The present SDS satellites have at least three functions: to maintain polar communications with Strategic Air Command aircraft, to provide a link in the control of USAF satellites, and to act as a relay for KH-11 photoreconnaissance satellites.
