The effect of increased strain rate on the resistance of steel 08Kh15N5D2TU-Sh to plastic deformation is manifested in increased strength and reduced deformation and energy characteristics. The coefficients of variation of all mechanical characteristics increase significantly. A certain martensite block orientation (in the fracture zone) in the direction of load application is observed in specimens tested at strain rates of 1. 7 multiplied by (times) 10** minus **3 sec** minus **3 and 2. 5 multiplied by (times) 10** minus **3 sec** minus **1, and is not observed at a strain rate of 575 sec** minus **1.
