摘要：
The key to applying multimedia technology to geographic information system is: how to effectively manage multimedia data and spatial data, how to realize the function of multimedia data in the process of area analysis. The paper points out that it is more suitable to use the expanded relative data model as multimedia data model, and then relates three technology tactics of expanded relative data model. The realization of multimedia function depends on the multimedia data format - RIFF, and on the applying demands for multimedia data. It also presents the prospective of applying multimedia technology to geographic information system.
