Restoration of photographic images degraded by multiplicative film grain noise is investigated. Linear minimum mean square error (MMSE) filters have been developed. The performance curves have been obtained for known Kodak film and for 2, 6 and 12 microns apertures. Two types of signal spectra viz. Gaussian spectra and the spectra corresponding to Laplacian autocorrelation function have been considered.
