Experiments carried out under laboratory conditions have confirmed the possibility of a reaction of ruthenium and osmium with iron oxides. It is established that at temperatures above 1660 K it is possible for osmium to pass into the gaseous phase in the form of 0sO//4 as a result of a reaction between metallic osmium and iron oxide.
