Refining process with low vacuum or without vacuum for low-oxygen bearing steel

This paper introduced the refining process for low-oxygen bearing steel. The molten steel from electric arc furnace is poured into an argon-stirring VAD ladle with low vacuum or without vacuum to perform mould casting. By this process the bearing steel with about 10 ppm total oxygen was obtained. The deoxidation rate constant of this process is greater than that of vacuum carbon deoxidation. The results showed that vacuum is not so necessary for deoxidation.
