OSHA'S HAZARD COMMUNICATION STANDARD.

The interpretation and application of the Hazard Communication Standard is not an insurmountable task but it will be a time consuming effort for most employers. The number of hazardous chemicals being purchased, will for most, be surprising because of the tendency to consider previously identified chemical hazards without realizing how many chemicals fall under the category of hazardous. A hazard communication program can be an effective tool for improving safety confidence and productivity when extra effort is put forth in formulating the program. Basic compliance guidelines is the intent of this article. Additions to these basics can change basic compliance into a positive influence on the workplace.
