Application of Complementary Techniques for Better Operation of an Oxygen Steelmaking/Continuous Casting Complex.

This state of the art summary has three parts dealing, respectively, with converter practice, holding of the liquid steel, and casting. It describes models for charge calculation and determinations of bath carbon and the endpoint of blowing, as well as continuous automatic adjustment of lance height and oxygen flow. It describes channel-type induction furnaces for holding the liquid steel and gives examples of application. It then discusses problems of raising the productivity of continuous casting machines without sacrificing quality.
