摘要
In Egypt industrial growth in steelmaking has been accomplished by constructing the direct reduction complex at El-Dekhaila. The problems that particularly affect the steel industry are the necessity to import iron oxide pellets. The waste generated due to the transportation and storage of the pellets is about 5-9% from the total charge. The question is how to convert this waste into acceptable recycled materials. The present study was undertaken in order to investigate the possibilities of using these wastes through the sintering process. It is concluded that the technological parameters of the sintering process, yield, amount of ready sinter, productivity of sintering plant and sinter strength are improved by addition of waste from oxide from 2. 5% to 5%. High quality sinter suitable for blast furnace operation with 67% reducibility can be produced by addition of 5% waste iron oxide.
