Highly uniform test aerosols can be generated by electrospraying and drying solutions of macromolecules. Although molecular species can be useful as well, proteins form the largest and easiest-to-handle class of water-soluble macromolecules. This article discusses in detail the requirements to generate efficient test aerosol.
