Over the past decade, computer graphics has found use in almost every field of knowledge in the United States. Applications range from engineering, control, business and entertainment to more specialized disciplines like CAD/CAM, virtual reality and multimedia. In 1995, US companies sold more than $32 billion of computer graphics equipment and services, of which $23.5 billion were industrial/commercial products. Based on an estimated compound annual growth rate of 14% between 1995 and 2000, it is expected that revenues will amount to $61.6 billion by the year 2000.
