Manufacturing Execution System (MES) represents a new and practical approach to linking information with action on the shop floor, to help the plant manager, as well as to improve quality, response, and profitability in the operation. An MES is the collection of systems that are necessary to manage, monitor and control all production and production-related activities at the facility level, where the execution takes place. All the subsystems are integrated through a common database.
