摘要：

A model is presented for the cathode region of a vacuum arc. The model is closed; the calculations only require a knowledge of the arc current and the properties of the cathode material. Specific calculations are carried out for a copper cathode. The calculated values of the voltage drop across the arc, the heat transferred to the cathode, the current density, and the current per spot are all in agreement with experimental data.
