摘要：
This paper presents several variational ways of deriving the governing equations for the in-plane bending of initially straight beams undergoing very large deflections. The main contribution is the indication of the steps in the derivation at which the small-strain assumption may be introduced without destroying the correctness of the final equations. A variant of the Ritz technique of analysis is applied to a cantilevered-beam problem.
