Distortion of sheets during cold rolling is caused by internal macrostresses arising on account of non-uniform elongation across the width of the strip. The condition of distortion of sheet during cold rolling is determined, establishing the relationship between the critical ratio of the maximum difference in elongation factors to the average value during non-uniform deformation and the dimensions of the strip. The formulae will enable the range of strip flatness control to be improved.
