The main features of multiphase multicomponent motion in pipes are considered: the variety of the forms of flow, the relative motion of the phases, additional energy consumption caused by the pulsation of phase concentrations in the flow and by the overcoming of the weight of the mixture in rising sectors, the effects of turbulence attenuation in emulsion flows, the presence of mass transfer processes between the phases. It is shown that Kutateladze's stability criterion is a determining parameter characterizing the form of flow. Formulas are presented for the calculation of the main characteristics of the gas-and-emulsion flow and for the hydraulic calculation of pipelines. Principal tastes of further research into the motion of multiphase flows of the gas-oil-water type are determined.
