Investigation into Modifying Polyamide Cords with Desmodur and on the Properties of the Modified Products.

Specimens of polyamide cords were modified by heating with triphenylmethane-4,4 prime ,4 double prime -triisocyanate (Desmodur P). Short-term treatments performed by this technique resulted in a significant improvement in the thermal, physical and mechanical properties of the polyamide. Thus, the modified cords had higher thermal stability, melting points and gel formation temperatures, as well as lower crystallinity and relative elongation.
