The introduction of new text communication services such as Teletex or Videotex is just around the corner. Special attention must be devoted to the interworking between the diverse services. This involves the transition between different text communication services on the one and the transition between different text communication networks within a service on the other hand. Microprocessor-based transition facilities are used in the former case to match the diverse characteristics and, in the second case, to ensure that cooperation within such a service will be possible in spite of the diversified characteristics of the different networks in which this service is embedded. For either type of transition examples concerning the new Teletex service are given.
