DECORATIVE ELECTRODEPOSITED NICKEL-CHROMIUM COATINGS.

Study of the corrosion performance of decorative nickel-chromium coatings has two objectives - to understand and improve the properties of the coating, per se, and improve the performance of the coating in combination with specific substrates. The progress made over the years is the result of growing understanding of the factors which influence the corrosion behavior of electroplated materials. This paper highlights advances achieved in the corrosion performance of decorative nickel-chromium coatings as applied to steel, zinc, plastics and aluminum. The first part deals with properties of nickel-chromium coatings, the second, with performance of these coatings on specific substrates.
