The R16,9-million expansion of AECI's urea facility at Modderfontein consisted of two projects: an uprating project of R7,1-million and a granulation project of R9,8-million. Not only did the project team succeed in erecting equipment with minimal disruption to normal plant operation, but it also managed to complete the task on time for the biennial shutdown of the plant when some 78 tie-ins had to be made.
