Viscosity and electric conductivity of Bi2O3-GeO2 melts are measured depending on temperature and GeO2 concentration. Contact interaction of the melts with some solid metals (Pt and Pd) and oxides (α-Al2O3 and SiO2) is investigated. An influence of conditions of single crystal growing on Bi4Ge3O12 and Bi12GeO20 properties is determined. It is ascertained that the revealed regularities of changing in crystal density along a length are caused by violation of melt stoichiometry due to Bi2O3 evaporation.
