Investigation of Annular Flow at High Evaporation Rates with Respect to Liquid Film Cooling.

The process of liquid film cooling of combustion chamber walls subjected to extremely high heat rates is investigated. A theoretical model has been developed for a reliable prediction of the film cooling length. The mass transfer at the liquid-gas interface results from evaporated liquid and entrained liquid droplets. The film cooling length analysis, which includes the physical effects in detail, is separated into two regions: heating the liquid and evaporating the liquid. The theoretical results were experimentally verified at high pressures and temperatures using a modified H//2/O//2-rocket motor.
