RUBBER-INSULATED WIRES AND CABLES.

These requirements cover rubber-insulated wires and single- and multiple-conductor cables for use in accordance with the National Electrical Code. These requirements do not cover rubber-insulated flexible cords or fixture wires, which are covered in separate requirements. These requirements do not cover wires or cables employing conductors larger than 2000 MCM (2 million circular mils) in cross-sectional area, or for use at potentials higher than 5000 volts. Although these requirements cover multiple-conductor assemblies such as twin, parallel, and twisted assemblies of two or more conductors, they do not cover complete armored cable, nonmetallic-sheathed cable, or service cables, which are covered in separate standards.
