A model of atomized fuel ignition in conditions of diesel fuel injection is proposed on the base of N. N. Semenov's theory of thermal detonation, the distinctive features of the process being taken into consideration. A numerical solution to the differential equation of ignition is given and analyzed. In particular, a linear relation is established between the total period and the conditional periods of ignition delay. Calculated results are confirmed by experimental data.
