Increasing the Fatigue Strength of Butt Welded Joints by Fusing Weld Reinforcements.

A method is described which allows the fatigue strength of butt weld joints to be increased by a gas tungsten-arc welding operation used to fuse weld reinforcements with adjacent parent metal. It was possible to show that this increase in fatigue strength depends on the relative load unbalance and becomes less as this coefficient increases.
