The Working Committee of the West German Society of Electric Power Systems (VDEW) 'Experience Exchange of Data Protection Delegates' is concerned with the functions of the company data protection delegate, as defined by paragraph 29, No 2 of the Federal Data Protection Law, namely the supervision of the correct application of EDP programs which assist in the processing of personnel-related data. It is pointed out that the essential function is to prevent unauthorised use of these data processing programs. In addition, reference is provided on the effects of these functions on the basic development of data processing in order to adequately compensate for the aspects of data protection stipulated by legislation.
