For ensuring safety of vessels and sea lanes, in Japan, there are laws and regulations such as Ship Safety Law, Maritime Traffic Safety Law, and Port Regulation Law, and the Ministry of Transport and the Maritime Safety Agency are in charge of enforcing these laws and regulations. In this report, these three laws prescribing the specific requirements for LNG carriers are introduced briefly, and at the same time, some explanatory notes are given on the practical aspects of the guidelines for LNG carriers set out by the Government of Japan.
