On the equilibrium of a transversally isotropic body with an elliptic crack under thermal action

The paper deals with the problem on nonuniform thermal effect on the surface of an elliptic crack in a transversally isotropic medium Using the earlier result with respect to analogy between the problems of elasticity theory and thermoelasticity for an arbitrary flat crack in isotropic and transversally isotropic materials. For three cases of ununiform cooling of the elliptic crack the stress intensity factors are numerically investigated with allowance for parameters and orientation of the crack. Two types of the transversally isotropic materials were considered: magnesium and cobalt. The intensity coefficients of stresses corresponding to considered cooling cases of the elliptic crack surface placed in magnesium or cobalt are calculated.
