This paper concerns a digital transmission network operation system that has highly developed supervision functions. These functions include automatic analysis and recording of alarms from transmission equipment, detection of digital errors, and short interruptions, which were difficult to accomplish using conventional supervision devices. The design and construction are presented. As basic technology, the analysis method, and 'Transmission Equipment Supervision Common Specifications' to unify the interface between transmission equipment and operation systems are described.
