摘要
The evaluation of a yarn's ability to take dye uniformly is one of the most important problems in the fine-denier industry. The usual methods for this quality analysis require knitting sample yarns into sleeves and then dyeing them with a sensitive test dye. The results are frequently not consistent and re-inspections are needed. To solve this problem, Japan's Toray Industries has developed an automatic yarn quality analyzing system whose components, operation and applications are described here. The Toray FYL-500 system permits continuous measurement of dye-uptake evenness of a fine-denier polyester or nylon filament yarn along its axis.
