Natural convection in a horizontal anisotropic porous annulus with isothermal boundary conditions applied on both inner and outer boundaries was investigated. Anisotropy in permeability was considered with principal axes oriented at a constant but arbitrary angle with respect to the vertical direction. The problem was formulated in terms of Darcy-Boussinesq approximation and solved numerically, using time-marching finite difference method, until a steady state was reached. It was found that for an arbitrary inclination of the principal axes which differed from the horizontal direction, no symmetry of the flow and temperature field existed with respect to the vertical diameter.
