Image Quality Indicators are a recognized adjunct to the practice of radiography and if used correctly they provide a useful indication of radiographic technique. It is, however, important to understand their limitation and avoid their use as rigid acceptance criteria in standards. Particular caution should be excerised in the specifying of an overall IQI sensitivity to crack sensitive materials.
