摘要
Two types of film displays using memory-type polymer-dispersed liquid crystals (PDLCs) are described. One is a unique multi-page display. This consists of a page stack of PDLC films in which the PDLC using nematic LC is sandwiched between the films with transparent electrodes. The PDLC has two memory states: scattering and transparent. Images can be formed through the pages and one or more desired pages can be displayed instantly. The other display is a reflective color image display, which is formed on a stack of PDLC films using a chiral nematic (cholesteric) LC. This PDLC has two memory states selective reflective and transparent. A stack of PDLC films having different selective reflections based on cholesterics forms a color image.
