Sampling efficiencies of all-glass midget impingers

Midget impingers are used to sample mists, sprays and bioaerosols for occupational hygiene measurements. This report describes measurements of the sampling efficiency of two midget impingers for airborne liquid droplets in the size range 2-40 μm in calm air. Although impingers were found to be at least 70% efficient in collecting droplets larger than 5 μm, there was a fall in efficiency for smaller droplets.
