To discharge the motivational part of his job in the industrial relations context the manager must approach industrial relations positively, making it part of the overall strategy of the Company, taking initiative rather than reacting; to do this he must be a careful student of the trade union world and keep up to date; and he must study carefully the differences between the way unions and managements are organized.
