摘要：
The 'Software Sandwich Bar' demonstrates natural language communication, and is an approachable system specifically designed for demonstration at the PRL Open Days held in June 1986. After 'ordering' a sandwich from a menu, the user can take part in a natural language dialog to discover its nutritive properties. The novelty lies in the robustness of the interface, which even allows the user to ask ungrammatical, incomplete and ambiguous questions. The system is written in POP-11 and C, and is organized as a number of processes running under UNIX on a SUN Workstation. The user interacts with two of these, the mouse-controlled menu panel, and the natural-language dialog component. The paper describes the various modules.
