Speed Up the Development of Automatic Control Systems and Their Introduction into Service.

A general statistical review is given of the development of control systems in the USSR and of some of the projects presently being developed. In 1974, there were over 1300 automatic control systems in operation in the USSR, including 785 planning and production control systems and 414 technological process control systems. In all the branches of the economy, at the ministries, industrial associations, and at enterprises, 1466 data processing centers have been set up. Problems of automation of control systems in railroad, road, and water transport, metallurgy, mining, engineering plants, chemical plants, etc. are discussed. The industrial transport of the USSR comprises 130,000 economic subdivisions of motor transport, 11,000 of railroad transport and 3,000 of water transport. About 10 million people are occupied in transport.
