摘要：
This paper reports on the growing trend today in the cable industry toward the centralized remote control of production lines, and it reviews the principles on which the computerization of wire extrusion lines are to be based. It is contended that the computerization of wire extrusion lines has an important contribution to make to the overall efficiency of production. AApart from affording complete operational records, the main advantages of the system come under two headings - savings in material and savings in labor. As to savings in labor, the aim of computerization is, first, to permit less experienced operators to run successfully high-speed extrusion lines, and secondly, to decrease the workload on the operator, with the possible result of a reduction of operators for a given plant.
