PRODUCTION ASSEMBLY AND TESTING.

The theme of this paper is standardization and reliability for excellence in production and covers some aspects to production, assembly and testing which need to be followed in order to achieve excellence. Contribution towards achieving excellence in production from activities such as production engineering, procurement, manufacture of parts, assembly of parts and testing are examined. In addition to components, standardization can extend to sub-units, processes of manufacture as well as testing methods. Testing for the purposes of ensuring reliability of the equipment needs to cover components, sub-units and finished product. Both special purposes and general purpose test gear can be used. Besides carrying out functional testing, burning-in at elevated temperature with the equipment powered-on, helps enhance the confidence on its quality and reliability.
