摘要
Results are presented of direct shear tests performed in the laboratory on selected coal samples with particular emphasis on the role played by the discontinuities within the sample. The shear strength of fractured coal is anisotropic and dependent upon the orientation of discontinuities within the sample. The degrees of continuity of the jointing influences the failure mechanism and the mobilized peak strength parameters.
