摘要
A quick and effective method for obtaining the frequency equation of a vibrating system with discrete parameters is presented. The procedure is purely algebraic and does not require the derivation of the system's equations of motion. It is therefore particularly effective in the teaching of vibration to undergraduate students. Although the technique was initially devised as a teaching aid, it may also be used as a technical tool by the practising engineer for the vibration analysis of more complicated systems.
