摘要
This paper describes an analysis and experimental results for novel modulators capable of compensating the microwave phase shift produced by the velocity mismatching, in which the crystal rod is divided into several pieces and overturned alternately. Although the modulating frequency is limited by total crystal length and the number of divisions, bandwidth of an octave or more can be obtained by a proper design. Compared with an ordinary TW modulator, the proposed type can achieve higher modulation efficiency. It is shown that an effective crystal length can be doubled using the PRR (polarization-rotated reflection) method. 7 refs.
