K-SHELL IONIZATION CROSS SECTIONS AND THEORETICAL MODELS.

Proton induced X-rays for thick targets of Cr, Fe, Co and Zn were measured with a Si(Li) detector for proton bombardment in the energy range 1. 0-3. 0 MeV. The K-shell ionization cross sections were derived from measurements of the K X-ray yield for these elements. The derived ionization cross sections are then compared with other available data and with theoretical predictions of PWBA, PWBABC, BEA, DI plus EC and ECPSSR. The K-shell ionization cross sections in a scaled plot as prescribed by these theories are also presented leading to different universal graphs. Our results show reasonable agreement with those of other authors and very good agreement with different theoretical models at different situations.
