Results are surveyed on operating dye lasers to narrow the spectrum and link it to atomic absorption lines by means of resonant phase-polarization methods. It is shown that the methods provide effective spectrum narrowing in pulsed lasers along with high stability and reproducibility in the narrow lines. Possible uses of such lasers are indicated.
