摘要
The paper presents a model developed for quantifying the fracture risk in terms of fracture probability. The implications of the fracture risk assessment model in design and nondestructive control data evaluation are discussed. A design criterion with an incorporated fracture risk assessment is outlined. A fracture risk analysis-chart was constructed for a wide range of materials, loading, and defect parameters. Trends in fracture behaviour due to material degradation in service or the influence of applied loading are discussed and exemplified by a realistic case of pressure vessel of 2. 5 Cr-1Mo steel which suffered temper embrittlement as a result of long exposure at high temperatures.
